SAICA acquires Benelux flexible packaging business

NIBC has advised SAICA, a leading European manufacturer of recycled paper for corrugated cardboard, on the acquisition of Schut, Hellema, and Lemapack from Flexible Packaging Holding (FPH).

SAICA’s purchase of Schut Flexible Packaging, Hellema Verpakkingen and Lemapack is the company’s first acquisition in the flexible packaging sector in the Benelux. The three Dutch companies are active as manufacturer and international trader of flexible packaging for the food and tobacco industry.

To diversify its activities in paper and paper packaging, Zaragoza-headquartered SAICA decided to enter the flexible packaging market with a buy-and-build strategy. Given NIBC’s in-depth sector knowledge, SAICA mandated us as exclusive financial advisor to assist in the search for potential targets in the flexible packaging market in the Benelux, Germany and Poland.

SAICA has an annual turnover of more than EUR 2.5 billion and employs around 8,900 people, with activities in Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, the UK, Ireland, Turkey and Luxembourg.
