NIBC has been an investor in Infrastructure and Renewable Energy assets since 2003, and as such was an early mover within this alternative asset class, leveraging upon its long standing presence as a lender and adviser to companies in the sector. NIBC invests both directly from its own balance sheet, and as a manager of funds for third party institutional investors. In 2007, NIBC established a EUR 350m European Infrastructure Fund for institutional clients, and in addition acts directly for pension fund investors, assisting them with the acquisition and ongoing management of infrastructure investments. NIBC may also invest directly alongside both corporate clients and institutional co-investors, with individual equity transactions typically in the EUR10-100m range. Core sectors, reflecting the expertise and experience of the NIBC team, include PPP projects, waste management projects, energy storage and distribution assets, and renewable energy projects in the wind, solar and waste to energy sectors.
