Debt prevention

In 2009, NIBC commenced a project to address debt problems among youth together with the municipality of The Hague. NIBC provided financial support and made time and expertise available to roll out a project at two schools in The Hague. NIBC volunteers facilitated group discussions and workshops and gave classes to teach children how to manage their finances. This project is offered to schools on an annual basis.

Made in Holland

NIBC and the Mauritshuis museum have a longstanding relationship. In 2010/2011, an educational project aimed at primary schools in The Hague was rolled out. This project allowed children to visit the 'Made in Holland' exhibition and taught them about art through classes and a creative workshop. NIBC financially supported the exhibition and employees volunteered to give classes and guide the workshops.

Renovations to reduce our footprint

In February 2011, NIBC commenced with an extensive renovation plan to further reduce the energy consumption and carbon emissions of our head office building and improve the energy label. The plan's major investments include the building of a system using geothermal energy to heat or cool our offices in The Hague, renovation and isolation of our façade and installation of solar panels to heat the restaurant. We aim to improve our head offices' energy efficiency to an A/ B label in the next 3-5 years.

10:10

NIBC has joined the global 10:10 campaign, an initiative aimed at companies and individuals to reduce carbon emissions by 10% in one year. Participating companies are asked to make a minimum 3% reduction. Globally more than 3,000 businesses and 100,000 individuals have joined the campaign so far.
